Roxanne Veronica Young is a writer and poet raised in Baltimore, Maryland. She started writing poetry as a child. Winning two poetry competitions by the age of fourteen. Inspired by Maya Angelou, Langston Hughes and Ntozake Shange she decided on a life of writing.
She earned a BS degree at the University of Baltimore and went on to earn her Masters of Fine Arts in Nonfiction at Goucher College. She is presently working on a book of personal essays delineating the transformative effect of African American literature on her psychological and spiritual growth. The overarching theme of the book is the necessity of African American literature in America’s literary landscape.
